Pooped
**NOTE** This posting is rated PG, as in "Poop Gore." Read at your own peril.
So... tonight was a pretty normal Sunday night... we had just come back from a blissful afternoon ride through the hill country, and a (relatively) quiet dinner at Jason's Deli. It was early, so we got the kids ready for their bath. The Mrs. was putting away the laundry, and I got the kids into the tub. Here is where the fun begins.
No sooner had Natalie's rear entered the water, when she proclaimed loudly "Daddy I need to go POTTY".... now for those yet uninitiated parents to be, this means it's time to get that rear end on a toilet ASAP. So I sweep her out of the tub, and on to the the potty. Nothing out of the ordinary there. So Natalie is being dramatic about going number two, when all of the sudden I hear loud grunting from Logan, still in the water. I glance over and as I notice the strained red face, I realize that we are now in DEFCON 1 status. I yell for backup "HONEY WE HAVE A SITUATION," and the Mrs. has enough experience to know that when I yell during bathtime, that we have a "code brown" on our hands. In her panicked state, she runs in with a roll of disposable diaper trash bags. As I am holding our son in the air mid-poop, I exclaim "What am I supposed to do with those, strap them to his butt!!??" She then expertly grabbed a diaper and nimbly wrapped it around him and whisked him off to the other bathroom, and begins running another bath to clean him off, while I deal with the situation in the original bath.
About this time, Natalie has had time to take it all in, and starts yelling "DADDY LOGAN WENT POO POO!!" and starts freaking about the poos floating in the tub, along with a host of other bath toys. I get Natalie cleaned off, and begin the process of cleaning out the tub. I'll spare those gory details, other than to say that I went through the remainder of the can of Lysol spray. The other noteworthy detail was that I tossed the bathtub poopies in the toilet, along with Natalie's ouput... just keep that in mind.
So I finally get Natalie back in the clean tub, and begin running the water again... only to realize that between the two baths that have already been run, that we are now out of hot water. Natalie is complaining about the cold water, when all of the sudden, we get the "DADDY I NEED TO GO POTTY!!" again. So I snatch her out of the water, plop her back on the toilet for round two of number two. Well, after that was done, I flushed... and to my dismay, I realized that with all of the previous output, Mr. Toilet decided to back up. Yippy Skippy. So now I haul buns downstairs and grab Mr. Plunger so that I can prevent overflow in the 2nd story toilet.
I tip my hat to my parents and their generation, who went through their fair share of this type of adventure with my peers. I salute my fellow parents who are currently enjoying these adventures, and I pity the fools who still have yet to start the fun (Wade).
