The Cheese Sleeps with the Fishes
Today was our first father/son fishing trip, and it was very fun. I woke son up before sunrise @6ish, asked him if he wanted to go fishing, and he about flipped his lid. We had breakfast and snuck out of the house, then over to our community's lake for a bit of early morning fishing.
And.... we caught this MONSTER FISH!
well.... that is... if by "monster fish," you mean a fish roughly the size of a three-year-old's foot. Say hello to my son's first catch, a tiny Bluegill!
He was pretty excited about catching the fish, so much so that I think his squealing/yelling scared away the rest of the fish. A few highlights from the trip:

- We used the Rocket Rod that we bought for my son's birthday. It *mostly* worked as advertised, although I will note that the thing is somewhat flimsy, we'll see if it lasts longer than a few outings. I will admit that the spring-loaded, pump action, push-button casting is pretty cool.
- The fish only were biting on the cheese that we brought (live bait not allowed at our lake). Next step: figure out how to get the cheese to stay on the hook. The fish were pretty adept at knocking it off the hook without biting.

Aquarena Springs Fun

Young Rock Star
So we are one of the umpteen million households that have been bitten by the Rock Band bug. Here is Logan totally show boating on lead guitar during his favorite Nirvana song. This is because clearly he is so skilled, he doesn't even need to be looking at the screen as he achieves perfection on expert level.
Fishie
Fishie is the man. Fishie the betta fish has been with us for about 4 years. Most memorably, he travelled with us during the Rita evacuation... where he rode in a sippy cup in the driver's side door cupholder, for a 30-hour trip. Fishie, here's to you!
